35 years in song. 35 years in life. SPĀRNI.
This year, the mixed choir “Spārni” of the “Sigulda Devons” cultural center is celebrating its 35th anniversary. That is why, on October 31 at 5:00 p.m., everyone is invited to the 35th anniversary concert of the mixed choir “Spārni,” “The Song I Am In,” at the Sigulda Parish Cultural House.
The choir’s story began in 1991, when, under the direction of conductor Līga Ādamsona, the youth choir “Mārtiņbērni” gained a new sound, a new path, and gradually became what we now know as SPĀRNI. Over the years, generations, voices, and life stories have changed, but the most important thing has remained - the desire to be together and to sing.
Over these years, SPĀRNI have sung both in Latvia and far beyond, at the Latvian Song and Dance Festival, the World Choir Games, the Nordic Song Festival, and many places across Europe. But alongside the major events are hundreds of smaller moments known only to us, which in fact make up the choir’s true story.
Under the direction of conductors Līga Ādamsona and Valters Veckaktiņš, lesser-heard songs by Latvian composers will also be performed - music in which everyone will be able to find something of their own.
There are stories that cannot be measured in years alone. They are measured in the people we have met, the moments shared together, concerts, rehearsals, laughter, the excitement before a performance, and that special feeling when the first note of a song brings everyone together in one breath.
Our former singers, choir friends, families, and everyone for whom song is not just sound but a feeling are especially welcome.
And if you have ever thought, “Maybe I should sing in a choir too?” - perhaps this is the right time to come and get to know SPĀRNI.
Because SPĀRNI is not just a choir.
SPĀRNI is a place where voices meet.
And people stay
See you at the anniversary!
