Agnese Egliņa and Daniils Bulajevs | A Walk Through Vienna

Join us for a special musical encounter with violinist Daniils Bulajevs and pianist Agnese Egliņa!

Daniils Bulajevs and Agnese Egliņa first met in music in 2021, when they performed together at the Great Music Award ceremony. The violinist had been nominated in the category “Young Artist of the Year”, while the pianist received the award in the category “For Outstanding Achievement Over the Year”. The understanding between these two temperamental and adventurous musicians was so natural and mutually inspiring that they continue to make music together to this day.

In this concert program, the two talents have assembled works infused with classical elegance and virtuoso energy, whose composers at various times had their lives closely linked to the enchanting atmosphere of Vienna.

The program is framed by two sonatas. At the start of the evening, you will hear the early First Violin Sonata in D major by Vienna classicist Ludwig van Beethoven, permeated by the young genius’s enthusiasm for the mastery of his admired senior colleagues, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At the end of the evening comes the deeply emotional Third Violin Sonata in D minor by the great Romantic Johannes Brahms, written almost a century later.

Between the two sonatas, the violin will sing Gustav Mahler’s vocal gems, which will be engagingly interwoven with masterpieces by two representatives of the so-called Second Viennese School - Anton Webern’s refined and painstakingly polished Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op. 7, and Arnold Schoenberg’s sparklingly rhapsodic Fantasy.
