ALEKSANDRS BOLDAČEVS | CHRISTMAS HARP HOUR | From Baroque to Rock

On December 21 at 7: 00 PM, the concert hall “Collegium Musicum Riga” will host a solo concert by the internationally acclaimed Swiss harpist Alexander Boldachev, “Christmas Harp Hour” - a musical journey from Baroque masterpieces to rock legends, in which the harp will appear in a completely unexpected sound.

Alexander Boldachev is a Switzerland-based, internationally acclaimed harp virtuoso, composer, and arranger who broadens traditional ideas about what the harp can do. In his concerts, the refinement of classical music meets contemporary energy, technical virtuosity, and striking musical diversity. The artist has performed on prestigious concert stages around the world, combining classical music, original compositions, and interpretations of popular music in his repertoire.

“Christmas Harp Hour” is a concert program specially created for the Christmas season, in which different eras, styles, and musical worlds come to life in the sound of a single instrument.

In the first part of the concert, listeners will hear works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and Louis-Claude Daquin, including excerpts from Vivaldi’s famous cycle “The Four Seasons.” The elegance of French music will be revealed in compositions by Claude Debussy and Frédéric Chopin, while the festive mood will be set by familiar melodies from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballets “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker.”

The program also includes original compositions by Alexander Boldachev himself, Ryuichi Sakamoto’s piece “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence,” and the world-famous Christmas melody “Carol of the Bells.”

At the end of the concert, the harp will transform into a true rock instrument - unusual and virtuoso arrangements of works by Queen, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gotye, and John Lennon will be heard.

One musician. One harp. A whole world of music.

We invite you to experience the Christmas season in an evening filled with outstanding music, virtuosity, and a warm holiday atmosphere in the very heart of Old Riga!
