ASPAZIJA. PERSONALLY - online performance

A performance-research piece based on the biographical outlines of the well-known Latvian writer and politician Aspazija (1865-1943). Johanna Emilija Lizete Rozenberga, later Elza Pliekšāne, chose the name of Pericles’s beloved Aspasia as her pseudonym. She was the wife of the outstanding poet Rainis. Rainis and Aspazija are most often mentioned together as a symbol of love and a creative partnership. Aspazija created Rainis, and Aspazija devoted herself to Rainis - this view often dominates among researchers of the biographies of Aspazija and Rainis. But who was Aspazija herself?
