RESURRECTION

The Resurrection of Man

It is commonly thought that Tolstoy is boring and preachy. Yet behind the thickness of the pages lies a very understandable and vivid human story.

In youth, we are full of primal dreams, but as we grow older, we increasingly agree to live “as is customary” - we choose the easiest path, silence our conscience, and gradually forget ourselves. This is also what happens to Prince Nekhlyudov. Once he commits a betrayal, trampling over his first love and another person's fate. Years later, an accidental meeting makes him look back and try to correct what seemed broken forever. This is a story about the strength of the human spirit and about how it is never too late to return to yourself.
