Ballet Giselle
"Giselle" is one of the first major ballets of Romanticism and one of the few that has survived to the present day.
Against the backdrop of an idyllic rural village, the story unfolds of the naive girl Giselle’s first love - her betrayed love, followed by madness and death, the eerily beautiful afterlife of the wilis - the spirits of dead maidens who make men dance to death at night, and love that is nevertheless able to overcome the fate of death.
