Baltic Drama Forum 2026: Readings of New Baltic Playwriting

Baltic Drama Forum 2026: Readings of New Baltic Playwriting

An event where playwrights from the Baltic states will present brand-new, unproduced plays and ideas for planned productions. The authors will share works that reflect on our time, our emotions, relationships, and the issues currently relevant in society.

Although the Baltic states are united by a seemingly similar historical and social context, each country’s experience and perception of reality is different. How are these differences reflected in playwrights’ ideas, stories, and artistic explorations?

The readings will be not only an opportunity to discover new texts, but also a space for meeting and conversation. The audience will be able to take an active part, ask the authors questions, clarify ideas, and share suggestions about why, where, and how these works should be developed and brought to life on stage.

The event will take place in English and will be hosted by Laurs Kaunisāre (Estonia) and Evarts Melnalksnis (Latvia).
