Baltic Drama Forum 2026: Guest Performance of the Šiauliai State Drama Theatre "Oval"

Latvian premiere at the Baltic Drama Forum 2026 - a collaborative documentary play by the acclaimed Latvian and Lithuanian theater artists, director Valters Sīlis and playwright Rimantas Kmita, "Oval"

"Oval"

documentary play

What lies behind everyday life - going to work, weekends, and waiting for vacation? Passion, determination, and other things that give life meaning. But everyone finds that meaning in a different way.

Šiauliai has become Lithuania's rugby capital. But behind the city's name are people for whom sport has become the meaning of life. And behind the word "rugby" - passion, perseverance, care for fellow human beings, and the desire to prepare young people for life.

In creating this performance, we ask: what does true passion demand? Are victories won only through virtue and perseverance, or are compromises inevitable? What do you have to give up to reach your goal? Does it hurt? And does only the injured body hurt?

The performance was created, inspired by conversations with rugby players, press materials, and historical events.
