BUSH “Out of Place 20”

On October 23 in Riga, at Vagonu Hall, BUSH will perform the concert “Out of Place 20,” dedicated to the 20th anniversary of his debut album “Out of Place”: a work that was one of the brightest and most unusual events in the Latvian hip-hop scene at the time.

This will not just be a simple anniversary concert.

“Out of Place 20” will be a musical show, story, and adventure lasting more than an hour and a half, in which BUSH will return to his creative path, telling it through different periods of his work, songs, and the people who have been by his side along the way.

BUSH, also known as Intars Albužis, stands out in Latvian hip-hop with his distinctive approach to lyrics and storytelling. In his music, alongside energy, power, and stage presence, there has always been room for reflection, a philosophical outlook, and a desire to speak about people, their inner world, and the surrounding reality. BUSH is not just a rapper who performs songs: his works are often built as a unified story, in which both

word, mood, and detail matter. It is precisely this ability to combine hip-hop energy with literary and philosophical thinking that has made his music special and allowed it to retain its significance even after two decades.

Twenty years ago, “Out of Place” was released in a special format, as a book album. In the 80-page edition, along with the lyrics and prose, a compact disc was also included.

“Out of Place” was published by the book publisher “Valters un Rapa” and was available not only there, but also in other bookstores. At a time when hip-hop in Latvia was still largely seen as children’s and youth music, this kind of release showed that a hip-hop recording could be more than just music: it could become a conceptual work of art.

“Out of Place” was presented at the “Casablanca” club on Doma Square, where the hip-hop audience of the time experienced one of the brightest events in the creative journey of BUSH and “Runā zāles.”
