Concert “I Know, I Know My Father’s Farmstead”
On November 11, at the Iļģuciems Culture Center, the concert “I Know, I Know My Father’s Farmstead” will be performed, in which actress Sigita Jevgļevska-Pļaviņa and guitarist Māris Kupčs will create a musical and literary story about Latvia, home, and belonging to one’s land.
The concert will feature works by Latvian composers Raimonds Pauls, Uldis Stabulnieks, Imants Kalniņš, and Mārtiņš Brauns, as well as folk songs that have become an important part of our cultural heritage. The musical program will be complemented by readings of poetry by Knuts Skujenieks, Vizma Belševica, Jānis Peters, Māra Zālīte, and Māris Čaklais, creating a unified story about Latvia, its people, and its values.
On Lāčplēsis Day, while remembering Latvia’s freedom fighters and honoring their courage, the concert will turn to Latvian history, the strength of the people, and the sense of belonging. Poetry and music will remind us of the importance of home, language, and homeland, as well as the values that unite generations and strengthen love for Latvia.
