ČUDARS | Auziņš-Poišs-Maksimovs

One of Latvia’s most versatile and concert-active musicians, Matīss Čudars, has received around 15 international awards for his guitar playing and music, including the Grand Music Award for the best concert in Latvia in 2022. He earned a master’s degree in composition from Yale University in the United States and currently lives and actively performs in New York. His trio album “Take Your Time” has received wide acclaim both in Latvia and abroad.

On October 24, Matīss Čudars’ quartet will give an intimate, energetic concert rich in musical colors. It will feature both new compositions created especially for this evening and earlier works by Matīss. Performing alongside Matīss will be some of Latvia’s outstanding jazz musicians: saxophonist Kārlis Auziņš, double bassist Toms Poišs, and drummer Rinalds Maksimovs.

M/Darbnīca has played an invaluable role in the musical journey and growth of Matīss and the members of his quartet. Before M/Darbnīca moves to new premises, this concert will be a celebration reflecting on what has been experienced together over its six years of existence.
