DANCE NATION

Klēra Barona

• •Directed by Paula Pļavniece

Coming-of-age drama

They are 11 to 13 years old. They are dancers in a dance group driven by ambition, friendship, and passion. They are preparing to conquer the world, or, more simply, to win the regional competition and earn the chance to compete at the national level. Every movement, every step, every squat takes the girls further from childhood and closer to discovering their identity. What is the price of victory? And what are they willing to sacrifice to become the best?

At the center of this performance is dance, through which the girls' deepest dreams, goals, and fears will be revealed. Looking at events from an adult perspective, the audience will have the opportunity to draw their own conclusions about the world we are creating for the youngest generations and for ourselves.
