“How Far Can We Be from One Another”
Five bodies, five paths - one shared reality. The legacy of postmodern dance.
PREMIERE
The performance “How Far Can We Be from One Another” explores human embodiment in three dimensions - physical, somatic, and collective - as a means of examining empathy, mutual perception, and collective responsibility. The project’s concept is shaped by the interaction of movement, objects, and rhythm, which symbolically and practically expands the possibilities of bodily expression. The performance is structured in four parts, where repetition, variation, and polyphony create a progression from individual action to collective existence, with the development of rhythm referencing Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero” as a structural and emotional point of reference.
The choreographic technique is inspired by the principles of postmodern dance, including the approach to movement of Trisha Brown and Lucinda Childs, as well as contemporary interpretations from the Belgian dance company “Rosas,” allowing the dancers to combine precise lines and geometric forms with the naturalness of the body, the use of gravity as a force that sparks movement, and freedom in space. In the performance, the quality of movement is based both on awareness of the body’s structure and on its reactions, creating a fluid, dynamic, and multi-layered language that invites the audience to reflect on the significance of the body, participation, and collective responsibility in society.
