The Boy with Two Hearts
Hamed and Hesam Amiri; stage version by Phil Porter
A crime journey - Director - Viesturs Roziņš
In Taliban-controlled areas, sharia law applies. Theatre, music, humor, and women’s opinions are forbidden. What you will see on the Liepāja Theatre stage - according to religious dogma - is “sinful” and leads people away from the “right” path. This is a story about a family that crosses boundaries. A mother, a father, and three sons who dream of football and cinema. They are from Afghanistan. They are fleeing the Taliban. An adventure-filled journey lies ahead of them. And they all have big hearts.
The heroes’ path by plane, by boat, by car, over rooftops, in a single heartbeat and in a huddle of sardines that they form in very close interaction with one another, opens up to us, the “lucky” ones, from a safe distance. At a time when fears about safety are becoming increasingly pressing, the story of the Taliban is no longer only about them, but also about us.
The performance is based on a documentary story of Afghan refugees.
For the performance on May 14, a FAMILY TICKET is available - when purchasing 3 or more tickets in one transaction, a 15% discount is applied to the tickets.
