The NGO House invites you to a networking event, “Seniors’ Day”

The NGO House invites seniors, senior organizations, and anyone interested to take part in an NGO networking event dedicated to International Seniors Day. It will take place on October 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the NGO House, 43A Ieriķu Street, Riga.

The aim of the event is to bring together various NGOs whose members include seniors, in order to encourage older people to spend their free time meaningfully, take part in creative activities, and stay active. We will introduce NGOs in which seniors can participate and what they can do there. Special attention during the event will also be given to safety issues relevant to seniors.

From 11: 00 a.m., participants are invited to the creative workshop “Be Seen!” and the master class “A Smart Move, a Precise Shot: Board Game Morning,” where they will have the opportunity to learn new skills and meet representatives of organizations.

The association “Women 50+” will introduce its activities and current projects, and will also invite seniors to take part creatively in the workshop “Be Seen!”. On the dark evenings of autumn, it is especially important to take care of your visibility - in the workshop, participants will be able to make their own beautiful and practical reflective pendant, choosing its shape, colors, and decorations.

For excitement, sharp thinking, and a friendly spirit of competition, the association “Riga Sports Veterans Club” will take care of the event, inviting every senior to try their hand at classic board games. There will be an opportunity to sit down at the chess and checkers tables to play tactical games, as well as test hand accuracy and precision at the novuss table.

Next, seniors are invited to take part in the safety workshop “Current Safety Issues, or How to Protect Yourself in Everyday Life?”, where together with representatives of the Prevention Unit of the Public Order Police Department of the Riga Region Administration of the State Police, various situations will be discussed. During the meeting, there will be an opportunity to learn how to take care of your safety at home, on the street, and in public places, how to act in situations when a person feels threatened, as well as how to recognize phone scams and other common forms of fraud. Seniors will also be able to ask questions of interest to them and receive practical advice.

At the end of the event, visitors can look forward to a musical surprise, as well as warm conversations and refreshments.

Seniors, NGOs in whose ranks seniors work, and all interested parties are warmly welcome! The event is free of charge.
