Duo Ictus x Leo Eltes | Echoes of the Surroundings (Sweden)

Taraxum is a creative collective founded in 2025 that focuses on performing academic percussion chamber music and experimental music. Taraxum consists of three young percussionists, Karīna Mazūra, Arnis Stepiņš, and Alise Sējāne, united by the desire to promote percussion chamber music to listeners in Latvia and abroad. The ensemble performs a diverse repertoire, mostly music written in the 21st century and new works. It actively collaborates with representatives of different art fields, taking part in creating new projects.

Echoes of the surroundings is an interdisciplinary collaborative art project centered on the interpretation of acoustic, contemporary, and improvised percussion music and its performative interaction with modified, projected visualizations. The project brings together the Stockholm-based percussion duo Duo Ictus and multimedia artist Leo Eltes, who have been actively collaborating for several years. At the beginning of their collaboration, a similar project dedicated to Sweden's west coast was created, Echoes of the Coast. For the project in Latvia, the ensemble draws inspiration from Latvian landscapes, both in nature and in architecture.
