Divorced, full of worries, middle-aged, with a serious drinking addiction? Or a great poet, university historian, admirer and researcher of the Colombian poet José Asuncion Silva? When the weight of sadness, melancholy and an unfulfilled life closes in on the once promising Oscar, he starts working as a teacher. There he meets a gifted student, Jurladija, who writes beautiful poems, and encourages her to participate in a poetry festival. Obsessed with poetry, Oskar is a true literary knight - a character rarely seen in modern cinema. In this poignant and comical story, the poet struggles through the ups and downs until he realizes that having talent does not necessarily mean cultivating it. Sometimes the purpose of life is simply to live.

Colombian director Simon Mesa Soto, working on 16mm film, masterfully navigates between drama, comedy and absurdity, addressing themes such as unfulfilled life, the desire to improve, art and bohemia, the desire for recognition and family relationships. With wit and wisdom, Dzejdaris premiered in the "Un Certain Regard" sub-program of the Cannes Film Festival, winning the jury prize. Columbia has nominated the film for an Oscar.

The film is in Spanish with subtitles in Latvian and English.
