The parent organization and educational channel “Māmiņu Klubs” invites expectant parents from all over Latvia and even the world to take a full childbirth preparation course by joining live lectures led by 6 practicing specialists - a gynecologist, midwife, psychologist, physiotherapist, certified pediatric nurse and certified breastfeeding consultant, without leaving home! “Māmiņu Klubs” Parent School offers participation in a 7-lecture online series covering all the most important topics you need to know about the final stages of pregnancy and the health of the expectant mother, childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care from practicing specialists in their fields -

The courses are interactive, and you can ask your own individual questions; after watching the course, parents receive a certificate confirming their readiness for childbirth, as well as lovely gifts! “Preparing for childbirth, childbirth step by step” - with midwife INESE VALDMANE. In the lecture, the midwife will explain: what should be taken to the maternity ward? How to create a birth plan and choose a maternity hospital? Signs that labor is approaching - how to know when it is time to go into labor? The labor process - from arrival at the maternity ward and in detail about the stages of labor, what should the woman in labor do in each of them? “Pregnancy course, final trimester, nutrition, health” - with gynecologist OKSANA BABULA, who will explain the main things every expectant mother should know about the course of pregnancy. The final trimester of pregnancy - what feelings to expect? Tests, examinations, screenings, ultrasound. Medications and pregnancy. Nutritional guidelines during pregnancy and use of vitamins. Illness during pregnancy or other unpleasant sensations - how to recognize them and what to do? Answers to expectant parents' questions.

11 AUGUST live from 10:00 to 12:00

“Emotional and psychological preparation for childbirth” - together with cognitive behavioral psychotherapist and psychologist Diāna Zande, we will get answers to questions - what are a mother's needs and how to meet them, what changes does an expectant mother go through, what feelings are normal during pregnancy and the postpartum period and when should the first negative signs be noticed, what to do with negative feelings, how to learn to trust yourself and your ability to give birth, how to approach childbirth rationally, realistically, without panic and irrational fears, how to make childbirth an adventure rather than an ordeal with lasting effects on psycho-emotional health, and other important questions for expectant mothers.

“Newborn care in the first days after birth” - together with experienced certified pediatric nurse ELITA SVARENIECE. In this lecture we will learn everything most important about a newborn baby - what is he like and why does he look that way? What does the Apgar score assess? How to evaluate a newborn's physiological condition? What injections and procedures does the baby receive at the maternity hospital? What is infant jaundice? How to care for a newborn according to the latest guidelines? What will a newborn's behavior be like in the first days?

19 AUGUST live from 18:00 to 20:00

"Breastfeeding ABC" - together with breastfeeding consultant Evita Žvagiņa-Jākobsone, who has many years of experience working with mothers, we will learn how to successfully start breastfeeding in the first days after birth and how to stabilize it in the later months as well. What are the recommended breastfeeding positions and why? How to care for nipples and deal with unpleasant sensations? How to deal with milk crises and engorgement? Practical tips on breast massage and easing painful suckling. A baby's behavior at the breast. Building a milk bank and expressing milk. How much does the baby consume and how should the baby's weight be assessed? How to mentally prepare yourself for breastfeeding and where to seek help if it does not work out? live on zoom.us

"Breathing and positions in labor" - access code will be sent at the start of the 7-lecture series.

The video lecture or practical class “Labor positions and breathing exercises” is intended for expectant parents to prepare for childbirth. It is recommended to practice these exercises and positions at home with a partner or alone so that you are ready to use them during labor.
