Art Installations on the Trail by the Ālande River

On the scenic banks of the Ālande River, urban artworks reveal nature’s constant change and invite trail visitors to experience, during their hike, the meeting of past, present, and future layers in the coastal landscape. The artworks encourage reflection not only on nature as an environment, but also as a fellow being, a partner, and a keeper of stories.

Ieva Viése’s sculptural forms reveal the imprints of fossil creatures in contemporary culture, while Krista Dintere’s interactive sound installation offers an experience of cooperation in interspecies relationships, revealing the ability to return what has been lost to nature. Rihards Vītols’ augmented reality work marks post-biological scenarios of evolution in which technology and nature interact within a new future ecosystem.

The creators of this art experience invite visitors to explore ecological change through movement, observation, and the search for balance, finding inspiration in nature’s diversity and in humanity’s relationship with it.

The aim is to foster understanding of the mutual impact of nature and humankind, creating a place where art becomes a bridge between science, culture, and personal experience in the landscape.
