RUN FOR YOUR LIFE... / Situational Comedy

To audiences across Latvia comes the world-famous English comedy master Ray Cooney's play "Run for Your Wife" (in the original language, “Run for Your Wife”). The productions of this master of farce make millions of spectators around the world laugh to tears, and this play is no exception! “Run for Your Wife...” is a work highly praised by critics and audiences alike, for which the author has received awards not only in Europe. Screenplays for films shown in many countries around the world have also been based on this comedy. Moreover, this very comedy is still regarded as the longest-running production in the famous London West End theatre.

On stage, the story of John Smith will come to life in one place, brought to you by personalities who need no introduction - crime series star Andris Daugaviņš, excellent actors - Lelde Dreimane, Rihards Lepers, Linda Kalniņa, Jānis Jarāns, Edgars Lipors or Valdis Pavlovskis, as well as director Valdis Pavlovskis and comedian Edgars Bāliņš.

Since the plot of the comedy is relevant in all times and places, it is very likely that behind these colorful characters the audience will be able to recognize some of their own friends or acquaintances. At the same time, the comically absurd situations will allow you to forget everyday worries and live through events that cannot be predicted in advance.

The main character of the plot is taxi driver John Smith (Andris Daugaviņš).

John drove passengers both during the day and, of course, at night according to a strictly drawn up schedule. Nothing special, you may say? That is exactly where the main intrigue begins! Because John was not like his fellow drivers - he lived two parallel lives at the same time, staying in two different homes with two completely different wives (Lelde Dreimane and Linda Kalniņa)! All this is possible, of course, if one sticks to a strict schedule. It would have gone on forever like that, without raising the slightest suspicion, if the resourceful John Smith had not gotten into a fight, as a result of which he badly injured his head and Smith woke up in the hospital. The world contained in that strict schedule began to fall apart at the seams at great speed! Saving his own skin, Smith got tangled up in attempts to explain the situation to both wives. The avalanche of lies grew larger and larger. Helping a friend, Smith's friend and neighbor (Rihards Lepers) came to the rescue with his own tricks. But the situation got even crazier! Meanwhile, to make matters even more complicated, the police become involved in the investigation (Jānis Jarāns and Valdis Pavlovskis). Now all that remains is to save oneself! But perhaps there is still hope of finding a way out? The audience will be able to find out by coming to the performance.

The performance has been staged for Latvian audiences by director Valdis Pavlovskis and producer Jānis Kļaviņš.
