Opening celebration of the book "I record my life in letters. Ilze Indrāne's letters to contemporaries".

On November 15, at 12:00 p.m., the collection of letters "I record my life in letters" - Ilze Indrāne's life story for contemporaries - will reach readers in the exhibition halls of the Madona Museum's local history and art museum.

The writer's daughter and son - Ieva and Juris Jātnieki, as well as Ilze Indrāne's life researcher Dace Zvirgzdiņa - will tell about the life recorded in the letters.

"Ilze Indrāne's (1927–2025) letters to her contemporaries cover a whole human life (1947–2018) - they are started by a girl who has just graduated from high school and finished by an old grandmother after 71 years. The selection of letters is made up of almost six hundred of her letters and notes to 18 people - friends, teachers, journalists, classmates, to whom she entrusts her impressions in the Pedagogical at the institute, moments of school work, social activity in the countryside, interest in the creation of new writers, comments on the emergence of individual literary works, care for the family and the correspondence partners who have become relatives, about everyday life at home on the outskirts of Madona, "says organizer Dace Zvirgzdiņa.

In the letters, we see an era with positive events and negations - you can read about district competitions on television, the founding of the Popular Front in Madona and the privatization of land, the departure of the Writers' Union from Benjaminiu House, in the 1990s also about the unexpected increase in the cost of living, the lack of essential goods, unpaid royalties and the loneliness of old people, etc. All this together shaped her life and the lives of the people around her.

In the letters, the creative activity appears in the nuances, prototypes, and locations of some literary works, but Indrāne does not tend to talk about the newly started topic, rather, something flashes about one or another character later, almost only a connoisseur can guess. During periods of passionate writing, she even asks her closest friend not to come, because: I catch myself like a dog by the ears and say - sit down, lazy person!

Letters entice with their direct revelation of time and era, with faith, with the ability to see what is happening through the eyes of a woman, teacher and writer, with the fact that what is written can tell an indescribable amount, sometimes without even realizing that you are beginning to experience what is happening alongside the writer.
