GRAJONKA

An improvisational performance about different life situations in which alcohol is present. The essence of alcohol cannot be shown as something independent, abstract; it is revealed in the space of human relationships as a matter of free choice.

"The audience is presented with a variety of stories about the impact of alcohol on human life. The five actors who perform these stories are also their co-authors, having drawn inspiration from their own experiences and those of their acquaintances. The young actors work in a clean, functional space. Green tables, used as the playing area, are placed among the audience. This metaphor of the 'green dragon' and other metaphors were created by the young, talented set and lighting designer Reinis Dzudzilo."

"It seems that the young director was inspired by the success of Alvis Hermanis's famous documentary theater. For his debut at the Russian Theatre, Senkov has chosen the topical theme of 'man and alcohol.' 'The essence of alcohol,' says Elmārs, 'cannot be shown as something independent, abstract. It is expressed in the environment of human relationships, through the freedom of choice.'"

Morozova N. In Russian Drama - a performance on the theme of alcohol // Telegraf

"The most impressive attribute of this performance, staged in the small hall of the Riga Russian Theatre, is its title. Effective, enticing, promising. It promises the audience a meeting with something truly original. The performance was not created based on any play. It consists of short etudes whose plots were invented by the actors themselves during rehearsals. This is not new in contemporary theater in general, but in the case of the Riga Russian Theatre it is an experiment."
