Latvian Radio Big Band

Description:

Together with the versatile and radiant vocalist Ieva Kerēvica, the Latvian Radio Big Band presents listeners with a new concert program that highlights the works of composer Zigmar Liepiņš, from the 1970s songs and pieces of the group MODO to film and theatre music.

In this program, the works of the legendary Latvian composer Zigmar Liepiņš will gain a new and fresh sound in big band arrangements, while preserving their musical depth and emotional message. In the concert, listeners will be able to enjoy both the songs of MODO, which once marked a new era in Latvian popular music, and Liepiņš's unforgettable melodies from film and theatre productions. The creator of the concert program idea and the one in the spotlight on stage is Ieva Kerēvica, one of Latvia's most outstanding vocalists, who will give this music new life and emotional depth with her voice. Ieva began her stage career, especially in theatre, thanks precisely to Zigmar Liepiņš's production Adata, so they are connected by a special musical and artistic bond. This project is a tribute to the cultural heritage of Latvian music, highlighting the diversity and significance of Zigmar Liepiņš's work across different eras and genres.

The program's arrangements were created by Ritvars Garoza, Madars Kalniņš, and Kārlis Vanags.
