Iveta Kaparkaleja’s Bee Kingdom
By the end of October, Iveta Kaparkaleja’s bee collection is on display at the Kraukļi Library
The story of Iveta Kaparkaleja’s little bee collection began on September 1, 2004, when her childhood dream of becoming a teacher came true. At Kusa Primary School, she took responsibility for her first and only homeroom class. While preparing for the spring parents’ meeting before first grade, Iveta folded 10 paper bees into a little flower, thinking that the “bee mother” would be eagerly awaiting her “little first-graders” during their school days.
On Knowledge Day in second grade, the teacher welcomed her pupils in a symbolic “beehive.”
The collection includes items both bought by Iveta herself and received as gifts.
On September 1, 2008, Iveta showed her “little bees” the collection she had created over the first two years.
In 2013, when the doors of Kusa Primary School closed, the time of the little pupils also came to an end, but the collection continued to grow and today it already includes 350 bees of various shapes and materials.
