Children's performance | Kaka and Spring
Kaka and Spring (4+)
(children's performance)
The performance is based on motifs from the book “Kaka and Spring” by Estonian writer Andrus Kivirähk. The production is not only popular with audiences, but has also been recognized by theatre professionals - it won the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award in the 2015/2016 season as the best performance of the year for children or teenagers.
Director Jānis Znotiņš: “I create children's performances to give children a meaningful lesson while fooling around, in which they learn something new. In my opinion, Andrus Kivirähk does this brilliantly in his stories - with provocative silliness he achieves a deep meaning about the order of the world.”
The book speaks about important themes in a child's growth process - getting dressed, learning to read, relationships in kindergarten, etc. The stories chosen for the performance reveal connections in these events that the child may still not see, for example, warm clothing - illness.
“To learn something, it has to be interesting and fun,” says Ance Muižniece in Jānis Znotiņš's first children's performance, “Room Fables.” The performance “Kaka and Spring” was created with this conviction as well.
