THE BOY WITH THE DOG (8+)

(children's performance)

The performance was created based on motifs from Inese Zandere's book "The Boy with the Dog," and tells the story of the well-known Jewish rescuer Žanis Lipke's son Zigrīds, who was only 8 years old when his family gave shelter to Jews persecuted by the Nazis.

"The Boy with the Dog" is an incredible adventure story based on true events about a heroic boy named Zigis, who, together with his family and his dog Džeris, worked a miracle by saving many lives.

Zigis sees and hears everything that happens in his home, and when he gets scared, he hides in the doghouse with his loyal friend Džeris. Deep under Džeris's doghouse is a bunker where Zigis's dad hides people. Here at the Lipkes', the pit is dug for life, not for death. Here they help, not harm. It is a great secret, and no one must be told about it. Zigis learns to understand the order of the world, asks questions, and sees how important humanity is toward one another.
