"Mark Rothko 2026" | Symposium Exhibition Opening

On October 2 at 4: 00 p.m., the Museum of Rothko will open the exhibition of the 22nd International Painting Symposium "Mark Rothko 2026", presenting works created during the residency of ten Latvian and international artists in dialogue with the atmosphere of Rothko's native city and his artistic legacy.

The exhibition showcases the diversity of the participants' artistic handwritings, while embodying the spirit of inquiry, friendship, and creative exchange characteristic of the symposium format. At the end of the exhibition, some of the works will enter the museum's collection, further developing its international collection of contemporary painting.

The exhibition features artists Nicole Mueller (USA), Gustavs Filipsons (Latvia), André Hemer (New Zealand/Austria), Weronika Hempel (Poland), Mice Jankulovski (North Macedonia), Rosa Juanco (Spain), Vilen Künnapu (Estonia), Henry Mandell (USA), Peter Maslow (USA), Emma Velde-Schaffer (New Zealand).

Admission to the event is free.

The exhibition of the 22nd International Painting Symposium "Mark Rothko 2026" will be on view at the Museum of Rothko from October 2 to November 29.
