Celebrations for the 40th Anniversary of the Mixed Choir “Līgatne”

The story began in 1986 and continues to this day - the story of the mixed choir “Līgatne.” Over forty years, there has been much to experience - rehearsals and concerts, Song and Dance Festival gatherings and competitions, trips and dances. But above all, this is a story about people who came to sing and found in song not only the joy of music-making, but also friendship, family, and memories for a lifetime.

This year, the mixed choir “Līgatne” turns 40, and the anniversary celebrations will take place through several special events.

On Monday, October 19, at 6:30 p.m., a photo exhibition dedicated to the choir’s 40th anniversary will open at the Līgatne Cultural Center.

The highlight of the celebrations will be on October 24 at the Līgatne Cultural Center, where at 6:00 p.m. the 40th anniversary concert of the mixed choir “Līgatne,” “Forty Cakes and One Candle, Maybe?”, will be performed. Admission to the concert is free.

The anniversary celebrations will continue at 9:00 p.m. with a dance featuring the band “Kokteilis.” Admission to the dance is 10 euros.

Former choir members, friends and supporters of the choir, choir members’ families, and everyone who feels close to the choir “Līgatne” are especially welcome to the celebration. Because these forty years are not only the choir’s story, but also the story of people - about a song that will continue to sound in future generations.
