Mixed Choir “Medera” 30th Anniversary Concert | LIKE PEARLS ON A STRING

A pearl grows... slowly and patiently, grain by grain, until it becomes a gemstone.

Thirty years of marriage are called pearl weddings, and in choir life too, 30 years is an important span of time in which songs, concerts, Song and Dance Festivals, journeys, laughter, hardships, and adventures have accumulated. This is the story created together by the singers of "Medera" - a sound that, like a pearl, has grown, changed, been polished, and gained its own special hue and sparkle over the years.

A choir's life is like a string of pearls, in which every song, every concert, and every singer is one of the pearls. Each one is different, each has its own story, sound, and place, but only together do they form a unified and beautiful whole. But for pearls to become a necklace, they need a secure thread and clasp to hold them together... And for all these years, that strong thread has been the choir's founder, artistic director, and conductor Gunta Vāvere - the force that unites voices in one breath and encourages everyone to feel and hear one another.

Over 30 years, "Medera" has changed and grown as the lineup of singers has changed, yet its sense of togetherness and love for song has remained constant - because the story is about the people who year after year add new voices, experience, and stories to this string of pearls.

In the anniversary concert "Like Pearls on a String," the choir will, one moment at a time, sing through 30 years with songs that have become important milestones in the ensemble's life. Joining the choir in the concert will also be conductor Agnis Augustinovičs and wonderful musicians - the outstanding soprano Ilze Grēvele-Skaraine and pianist Jolanta Barinska, as well as the instrumental lineup - keyboardist Artūrs Krišjānis Goba, percussionist Juris Laizāns, and guitarist Jānis Griķis. "Medera" continues to shine as long as the pearls remain strung together and held by a strong thread, and everyone is warmly invited to join the choir at the 30th anniversary concert "Like Pearls on a String."
