Jeļena Antonova Painting Exhibition “There, Where Light Dwells”

A native of Rēzekne, painter Jeļena Antonova presents museum visitors with her latest works, surprising them with a joy of color and vitality. Without ever stopping in her creative growth and working in mixed media on canvas, the artist is constantly searching for new means and techniques of expression, enriching the canvas with textures, glazes, color washes, and drips. J. Antonova's range of themes always includes still lifes, landscape motifs, and flowers, which, intertwining in rhythms known only to the author, create an elusive world of fantasy. As the head of her painting studio, Jeļena teaches her students to release their creativity and see the beautiful around them.

About her painting, the artist says: “I paint what surrounds us in everyday life and what we often no longer notice - the riot of colors in nature, love and light, beauty, fragility, and life. I want a person, when looking at my paintings, to stop for a few minutes. To forget the rush, worries, and everyday concerns. To see what we usually pass by.”
