Jelgava Chamber Orchestra concert “Daugava. Lachplesis”

Jelgava Chamber Orchestra concert “Daugava. Lachplesis”.

In 1930, Latvia’s first large-scale historical feature film, “Lachplesis,” was made, showing Latvia’s path to freedom through mythical and real characters.

The film will be enjoyed with a more modern soundtrack - original music by composer Emīls Zilberts, performed by the musicians of the Jelgava Chamber Orchestra.

A selection of fragments from the digitally restored version of the film, created by director Juris Pakalniņš, will be shown.

Part 1: Mārtiņš Brauns, Rainis - “Daugava” - mixed choir “Rotā” of Jelgava’s Lielupe Secondary School, under the direction of Līga Celma-Kursiete, Krista Delvere and Ingus Leiland.

Part 2: Emīls Zilberts, music for the motion picture “Lachplesis” - Jelgava Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Aigars Meri.
