Anniversary Concert | 40 Years - Beneath One Midsummer Wreath

To mark 40 years of creative work and song traditions, the mixed choir “Līgo” of the Traditional Culture and Crafts Center “Īrga” invites loyal listeners and music lovers to its anniversary concert, “40 Years - Beneath One Midsummer Wreath,” taking place on October 24 at 4:00 PM in the Chamber Hall of the VEF Culture Palace.

In the anniversary concert program, the choir will look back on the decades of its existence, performing both works from the ensemble’s golden repertoire and musical surprises prepared especially for this occasion. The concert will be an emotional story about the choir’s history, friendship, and love of song, which has united several generations of singers.

“This anniversary is our chance to thank everyone who has been part of our shared journey. Every choir member has been like a bright flower in the song-filled Midsummer wreath of the mixed choir “Līgo.” We have put our hearts into this concert, and we hope that these emotions will not leave our listeners indifferent,” says the choir’s artistic director and conductor, Karmena Jakovela.

The concert program includes works by classics of Latvian choral music as well as pieces by contemporary composers. Pianists Antra and Normunds Vīksnes will give the event a special sound, and actress Baiba Nollendorfa will recite poetry.

Conductors: Karmena Jakovela and Aivars Boitmanis, piano accompanist Inese Andersone.

Admission to the concert is free.

The concert is organized with financial support from the Riga City Municipality.
