A hill? Wax? - a unique concert program in Cēsis and Riga

Kalniņš in the new concert program? Wax? two great musical personalities will meet - Imants Kalniņš and Pēteris Vasks. It is a rather rare encounter in concert programs, even though both are almost the same age. Different life stories and musical paths, which this time will find one path, putting the sound of the choir in the center.

Kalniņš once said about music and feelings related to it: It's like, when you enter the forest, you suddenly see - the recur is a mushroom, a boletus!, but at what moment it grew, I didn't see that! Yesterday I passed by and that mushroom was not there, but now I walk and suddenly it is there. It's the same with feelings - here it is and there it isn't.

The concert includes well-known and lesser-known choral and solo songs of both authors, as well as some instrumental compositions for previously unknown compositions. A large number of compositions are related to the early works of the composers, when their handwriting and characteristic melodic languages were formed.

Two concerts, two different venues, different lineup of soloists, but one program.

on October 18 at 18.00 in the concert hall CESIS

The two concerts are united by the Youth Choir BALSIS, lighting artist Ivars Vācers, photographer Lauris Vīksne and video artist Juris Pīlēns, graphic design author Krista Bitmete, artistic director Ints Teterovskis.

The concerts will include - Love, Three forests, Unity, In my own people, Prayer, Both together, Bells, A small concert for a choir, conductor and composer, Maybe it's all just jokes, etc.

Ints Teterovskis says: The music of Kalniņas and Vaskas is extremely important to me, it lives in me every day and inspires me. Both excellent melodists with the ability to emotionally captivate and not leave indifferent. Also, the message written and left by Pēter Vaska to himself in the "time capsule" in Aizpute seems timeless and useful for everyone - "Dear Pēteri! Almost everything you wanted has come true. Dream, and dreams come true! Little guardian angel."

Thanks to the Social Enterprise IRAUGI NEZIDĘETO, a sign language interpreter is provided at the concerts.

The concerts are organized by the Music and Art Development Fund "Voices", thanks to the support of the Riga State City Municipality and the State Cultural Capital Fund
