The film "Ula" is an emotional story about identity and belonging, set in Latvia in the 1960s. Ula is a teenage Old Believer whose unusual height of almost two meters draws the attention of basketball coaches. She is taken to Riga, where she finds herself in an unfamiliar big city and the world of professional sports. Struggling with her inner doubts, the girl soon realizes that she must make the most important choice of her life, to hide from the world or accept herself and become the best female basketball player in the world.
