Silence and Noise

Third-year directing course project at the Latvian Academy of Culture

Gymnasium student Svens and his friends spend the pandemic in a communal apartment. Since they do not have to go to school, they devote their days to bohemian revelry and dreams of art and growing up. When Svens's best friend moves to Belgium, the distance between them quickly turns into silence, and nothing frightens young people more than the sound of silence. The pain of first love, impossible distances and the desperate need for constant closeness, as well as the theater that the members of the commune stage for one another's enjoyment, unfold into a whirl that only the carousel of youth can set in motion.
