Those who are close to Čaks's poetry know that strange feeling when it seems that the events depicted by the Poet were one's own lived experiences, and that the poetically described places are intimately familiar down to the smallest details - both the streets with their smells and lights, and the outskirts of the city with little meadows where goats graze and starlings whistle, and a window slowly misting up in the fog...

This year we are once again celebrating the great birthday of the poet Aleksandrs Čaks. His poetry inspired composer Jānis Lūsēns to create a new concert program that reflects the different facets of the Poet's work.

Jānis Lūsēns's newly created songs have gained their special sound by intertwining two masculine vocal timbres - the baritones of Zigfrīds Muktupāvels and Jānis Strazdiņš. With the composer himself at the piano, the sound of the instruments will be enriched by Jānis Lūsēns Jr.'s bass guitar, as well as Harijs Gūtmanis's rhythmic pulse and the subtle shades of percussion.

The program includes Jānis Lūsēns's songs to the words of Aleksandrs Čaks, music for unrealized films, and conversations.
