Concert "Reflections in Time" in Memory of Tālis Dekšns

A festival of organ music with the magnificent organ of the Great Hall of the University of Latvia is a musical tribute to the anniversary memory of the outstanding Latvian organist, professor, and organ expert Tālis Dekšns (1946-2018). Many well-known musicians - organists, instrumentalists, singers, choirs - in a varied concert program of Latvian music.

The program will feature Latvian music works beloved by T. Dekšns and his arrangements for organ. We will hear music by Jānis Ivanovs, Jāzeps Mediņš, Marģeris Zariņš, Pauls Dambis, Tālivaldis Ķeniņš, and Pēteris Vasks.

The concert will bring together a whole galaxy of renowned Latvian organists who were former students of Prof. T. Dekšns - Aigars Reinis, Ligita Sneibe, Ilona Birģele, Diāna Jaunzeme-Portnaja, Līga Ivāne, Guna Kise, and his wife Edīte Alpe Deksne.

Along with the organ, the singer Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča, the University of Latvia chamber choir DeCoro under the direction of Kristiāna Vaickovska and Pēteris Vaickovskis, the mixed choir INTIS of the Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Center under the direction of Ilze Valce, as well as horn player Ingus Novicāns and trumpeter Jānis Ivuškāns will also perform.
