Concert “Color of Freedom”
On November 11, marking Lāčplēsis Day, or the Day of Remembrance for Latvia's freedom fighters, at 6:30 p.m. the National Library of Latvia Museum of Literature and Music invites you to the concert “Color of Freedom” in the permanent exhibition “Procrastination and Creation” at 6 Mārstaļu Street, Riga.
The concert will feature songs from the Awakening period, original compositions by composer Lauma Kazaka, as well as works for choir by Latvian composers.
Throughout the evening, original compositions by Lauma Kazaka will be heard, alongside Latvian choral music and works from the Awakening period, including pieces by Mārtiņš Brauns, Juris Kulakovs, Jānis Lūsēns, Imants Kalniņš, and other composers.
The works will be performed by the mixed choir “Norise,” artistic director Alise Koknēviča-Upīte. Lauma Kazaka (guitar) and Helga Gūtšmite (piano) will also take part in the concert. Visitors will have the chance not only to listen to music, but also to view an exhibition of paintings by Latvian artists created especially for this event.
At the end of the event, there will also be a sing-along with the audience, performing beloved Latvian songs that have become symbols of unity and belonging.
Lāčplēsis Day invites people every year to remember Latvia's freedom fighters and serves as a reminder of courage, perseverance, and the ability to defend the country's independence. The concert “Brushstrokes of Freedom” will be an opportunity to honor this memory through music, poetry, and a shared cultural experience.
Tickets can be purchased in the “Mobilly” app and at biletes.rmm.lv. The number of tickets is limited.
