Concert Production “Passions of Baroque Music”

The concert program “Passions of Baroque Music” intertwines the musical styles of George Frideric Handel and Tarquinio Merula. Handel’s vocal and instrumental music is serenely harmonious and praises the beauty and splendor of God’s created world. Merula’s instrumental dances, on the other hand, composed in the lavish manner of the Venetian school, belong more to the entertainment genre, appealing through dynamism and rhythmic brilliance, and allowing the musicians to demonstrate virtuosity both as soloists and in ensemble interplay.

The concert features experts in early music with extensive international experience - early wind instrumentalist Kristīne Stumbure, violinist Raimonds Melderis, cellist Ainārs Paukšēns, multitalent Pēteris Vaickovskis, as well as the versatile singer Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča and the multifaceted percussionist Mikus Bāliņš.
