Krišjānis Barons’ Birthday Commemoration at the Barons House “Dainas”

On the day when all of Latvia will turn the clocks back, Krišjānis Barons will be remembered at the Barons House “Dainas,” and all who walked the paths of this world long before us will be honored!

On October 25 this year at 3: 00 PM, we invite you to the commemoration of Krišjānis Barons’ birthday at the Barons House “Dainas.”

Under the guidance of Anda Ābele, head of the Traditional Culture and Crafts Center Īrga folklore group “Laivas,” we will set the table of the spirits in the Dainas courtyard: with a white tablecloth, candlelight, and a small homemade treat for honoring the ancestors (as each person freely chooses).

Afterwards, we will join together in song with the folklore group. Everyone will have the chance to step up to the spirits’ table for a moment, light a candle, quietly remember loved ones who have passed on, give thanks, and spend time in memories.

Come with your own story or simply with a wish to experience the tradition of the spirits’ time in the Gauja bend.

We look forward to seeing you at “Dainas”!
