Cultural Tourism Route “Catch Ziedonis”

An interactive journey along the paths of poet Imants Ziedonis’s childhood and youth in Jūrmala - Sloka, Kauguri, Ķemeri - as well as Lapmežciems, Ragaciems, Engure, and Tukums. Travelers can learn about the poet’s connection to the area or site included in the route by scanning the QR code at each stop and listening to readings of excerpts from Imants Ziedonis’s works, facts from his life, and stories of memories about the poet.

The total length of the route is 111 kilometers, and the circular route includes 17 stops. Every traveler can choose how to take this journey - by bicycle, motorcycle, car, or, if planning a longer holiday, by walking Ziedonis’s paths on foot.

The interactive part of the route is a crossword puzzle with 17 questions - one question at each stop. Answers to the questions can be found by scanning the QR code on your smartphone at the stop marked on the route map and listening to the audio recording corresponding to that section of the route or watching the video material.

The stops on the Jūrmala section are Sloka Library, Kauguri House of Culture, Ķemeri Water Tower, and Imants Ziedonis Ķemeri Library.
