Charity Ball “Čaks, Touched by Eternity”
There are evenings where history, art, music, and charity meet... On October 31 at 6:00 p.m., we invite you to a special charity ball, “Čaks, Touched by Eternity,” in the festive hall of the Spāre Manor complex, in remembrance of the outstanding Latvian poet Aleksandrs Čaks, whose 125th birthday we are marking this year!
Spāre Manor has a special connection with Aleksandrs Čaks, formed during the time he worked as a teacher in Drabeši. This is also evidenced by the Spāre Writers’ Park, a place of literary strength created by Čaks, where trees planted by Latvian writers are growing.
To mark the poet’s birthday, the association “Cerību spārni,” in cooperation with SIA “Spāres muiža,” is organizing the charity ball “Čaks, Touched by Eternity.”
Charity, patriotism, love - this is how we can describe the warm and sincere attitude toward life that Čaks praised in his poetry.
The aim of the charity ball is to raise donations for the publication of a book that will include the winning works of the prosaic writing contest “The Strength of a Person” announced by Spāre Manor. In the contest, 28 authors submitted original prose works united by the theme of people with disabilities. These works honor their spiritual strength, resilience, creativity, and life experience. The contest entries honestly reflect the everyday reality of life, inspire reflection, and tell of selflessness and heroism. People with disabilities, their loved ones, and their families deserve public recognition, which we can all give together through a prose contest and a book dedicated to them.
The ball will take place with accents from Čaks’s era. The donation will also cover the costs of food, drinks, and ball music in the mood of tango, foxtrot, and waltz. The menu and cocktails will be prepared, inspired by Čaks’s family cookbook. In the speeches we will remember Čaks, but at the ball we will also let a joy full of life blossom, just as he would have wanted. Guests of the ball will also enjoy a lottery with valuable prizes.
Let us remember Čaks, his name, and his era, while at the same time letting this evening fill with joy, music, and togetherness.
