LĀČPLĒŠI KROSS 2026

On October 3, the grand anniversary “Lāčplēšu Kross 2026” will take place in the Great Meadow of Mežaparks

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, Riga residents and city guests are invited to the patriotic trail and obstacle run “Lāčplēšu Kross,” which will be held in the Great Meadow of Mežaparks for the significant tenth time this year!

The aim of the competition is to promote patriotism, solidarity, and a sense of unity among residents by overcoming not only the distance, but also various obstacles named after the heroes of the epic. This year, the organizers plan to bring together more than 1,000 participants from all over Latvia.

Participants will have the chance to test their strength in the hilliest area of Mežaparks in four different runs:

• 0.3–1 km Laimdota children’s distances

1.6 km Mile distance (new this year!)

5.0 km Lāčplēši run

10.0 km Knights’ run (two 5.0 km laps)

There will be 12 unique obstacles on the course: Hero’s Path, Kangars’ Net, Lāčplēsis’ Belt, Laimdota’s Footbridge, Koknesis’ Logs, Black Knight’s Pits, Spīdola’s Trap, and Sumpurnis’ Wall. All obstacles are designed to be within everyone’s reach, giving a sense of satisfaction and joy at the finish, where each participant will receive a beautiful Lāčplēši commemorative medal.

While participants are on the course, a varied and free entertainment program for children and families will take place in the competition center (the Great Meadow) - archery, handicrafts, rope climbing, and a blacksmith workshop. Visitors will also be able to watch and explore an exhibition of combat vehicles and equipment from Latvia and allied forces, as well as Young Guard activities.
