"Witnesses of Time: Drawings and Sketches" - an exhibition of drawings by Mirdza Lavīze Granta and Žanis Grants

From September 1 to October 30, the Bites Library is hosting an exhibition of drawings and sketches by the parents of Jānis Grants, who lived in "Velēnas" in Tērvete Parish.

Most of the works were created in the 1920s to 1940s and can be regarded as distinctive witnesses of their time. Some of the drawings tell of a time when Jānis Grants' parents were still schoolchildren, as the teacher's assessments can be seen in the corners of the pages. Several landscapes depict the family home "Velēnas," surrounded by majestic trees, wide meadows, and a flourishing apiary. Looking at the drawings, one can enjoy the changing seasons, traditions of holiday celebrations, and the charm of the native region's nature.

Jānis Grants has preserved the memory of his parents with pride, respect, and love, so all visitors to the Bites Library are warmly invited to view the exhibition of drawings and sketches.
