Latgale Artists’ Exhibition AUTUMN 2026 “Shadow / Susātivs”

The exhibition opens on 17 November 2026 at 3:00 PM

The exhibition motto chosen to inspire the artists was “Shadow,” translated into Latgalian as “Susātivs.” It carries a multilayered meaning and is revealed in the creative work of Latgale artists - painting,

graphics, sculpture, as well as textile and ceramic works created over the past year. There is a saying: “You cannot escape your shadow,” which reminds us of each person’s unique, unrepeatable mission. Shadow as shelter, but also as the opposite of light, a place to hide, to remain undisclosed. There are also shadow plays, the two sides of an individual’s inner life, balancing between light and darkness. Shady avenues and city streets, color contrasts and plays of light and shade in the treetops. Long evening shadows that turn a sweet

purrer into a ghostly tiger... The shadow of a cloud or a wing glides over the path, or perhaps it is a premonition.

Work submissions for the exhibition are still open until 31 October (conditions on the LKM Facebook page).
