Latvia - Italy. FIBA EuroBasket 2027. Qualification - BezRindas

On Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Sports Games Hall

Latvia's women's national team has an important battle for a chance to play in the European Championship final tournament.

In November, the women's national team will play the first-round games of the second stage of the 2027 European Championship qualification tournament. The first tests will be away in Austria on November 11 and Slovenia on November 14, but on Tuesday, November 17, the Latvian team will host Italy at home in the Sports Games Hall.

Last year, Italy's basketball players won bronze medals at the European Championship for the first time in 30 years, and just recently they fought a close game with the USA at the World Cup (52:55), as well as qualifying for the knockout stage. In Group K of the European Championship qualification tournament, the Italian team is considered the favorite. However, Latvia's national team has worked well over the summer to be able to overturn the predictions.

The head-to-head record between the women's national teams of Latvia and Italy is 6-6. Latvia have the edge in European Championship final tournaments (2-1), the qualification tournaments are tied (3-3), while the opponents have done better in friendlies (1-2). In the most recent meeting so far, in 2017 in Prague in the European Championship semifinal for 5th to 8th place, Latvia won 68:67 and earned a ticket to the World Cup.

Against the Italian team, which is 14th in the world rankings, Latvia will not be the favorite, but as has happened many times before, at home with the support of the "6th player," the Latvian team becomes almost unbeatable.

Let us support Latvia's women's national team on the road to the European Championship final tournament!
