Director Kārlis Krūmiņš, together with the Valmiera actors, will create “Laipotāji” in the style of dell’arte comedy as a story about people who want to move up in life, despite difficulties and without distinguishing between the means it takes - including lying, killing in both the literal and figurative sense.

The performance is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Othello” - almost everything can be interpreted and negotiated in it - power and the individual, social status and the status of a stranger, wisdom and skill, love and passion. Also, whether the tragedy becomes clearer if all of this is viewed from the comic side.

The production had its premiere on 7 August at the Valmiera Summer Theatre Festival, and from 21 August it has been in the repertoire of the Valmiera Theatre.
