LEGEND NIGHT AT SIGULDA NEW CASTLE - GAMES WITH LIGHT

Legend Night “Touching Light” will take place at Sigulda New Castle. This year, the theme of Legend Night announced by the Latvian Castles and Manors Association is light. In the castle rooms, light will meet darkness and shadows, revealing different ways to see, hear, feel, and even taste light. Visitors will be invited to speak in whispers so as not to scare the light away, and to experience the multimedia dance theatre White Knights performance “Touching Light” directed by Līva Ornicāne.

Sigulda New Castle will welcome visitors from 6:00 p.m. Playing with light, it will be possible to walk through several castle rooms and discover the dialogue between light and shadow. Although Legend Night takes place during Halloween season, the event will focus not on that theme, but on the art of light, movement, and imagination.

BRIEFLY ABOUT THE UPCOMING PROGRAM

In the Castle Banquet Hall, the multimedia dance theatre White Knights performance “Touching Light” will be shown in five sessions at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The performance is directed and choreographed by Līva Ornicāne. It will reveal a person’s longing for light, truth, hope, and love. Combining dance, shadow theatre, video projections, live video, and sound, the performance will take the audience on a symbolic journey from unrest and longing to silence, to the moment of encountering light.

In the Castle Dining Hall, visitors will be invited to play with light, creating shadow theatre themselves and exploring how light shapes silhouettes and different shades of shadow. In the library, it will be possible to touch light, take photos with it, and experience an unusual interactive encounter. In the castle basement corridors, the path of light will lead to sound, where music will also speak the language of light. In another basement room, it will be possible to “taste light.”
