Night of Legends or the Time of the Dead in the Castle

What better place than 13th-century walls to get a little scared in good company, test your skills in such an elusive field as ghost photography, or experience role-playing in the first feature film in Latvia? And if it all ends with an experimental meal at Pilskrogs?!

Did you know that most of the first feature film shot in what was then Latvia, “Where Is the Truth?” (1913), was filmed in Ventspils? It was made with the actors of Ventspils at the time, the determined director Kristaps Koškins, and funding from the owner of the “North Pole” cinema, Berlins. The brave visitors of Legends Night will be able to step into the tragic fate and love story of the Jewish medical student themselves.

As soon as photography was invented, people started taking pictures in a hurry, getting a much cheaper likeness of themselves and their relatives than was possible with artists. At the same time, in the late 19th century, the genre of post-mortem, or after-death, photography also developed, because often it happened that the deceased had not managed to be immortalized during their lifetime. In addition, many wanted to be photographed together with the dead. Whether any photographer also managed to capture a spirit from the world of ghosts in the frame, and how this is possible, will be possible to find out at the Legends Night of the Time of the Dead.

What a talented cook can create in the kitchen is sometimes better not to know, but real experiments and flavors suited to the Time of the Dead, along with fateful touches, will resonate at the end of each walk at the experimental Pilskrogs meal.
