Lecture about the artist Vasily Surikov

Lecture “Vasily Surikov - Master of Historical Painting”

October 29 (Thursday), 6:30 PM

Vasily Surikov is one of the most important 19th-century artists, who managed to compare long-past historical events with those taking place in his own time. He was called a “seer of bygone times.” Surikov had a special gift for conveying a sense of the authenticity of historical events, so that the viewer feels like a direct participant, standing before Surikov’s works. At the lecture, we will talk about his difficult path to the Academy of Arts, his determination, look at all the major paintings, and, of course, talk about the life of Vasily Surikov.

The lecture will be given by Daria Boykova, an art historian and curator of cultural projects.

The lecture lasts an hour and a half.

The lecture will take place at the One Bouquet studio, Ausekļa iela 5, in Riga. The price of the lecture is 25€, drinks and light snacks are included.
